Summary

The 2024 ISHRS Advanced/Board Review Course is designed to assist aspiring candidates seeking certification by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery in focusing their studies for the written and oral examinations, which lead to certification. In addition, candidates will be exposed to the screening criteria utilized by the ABHRS in assessing for the presence of those behavioral clinical skills that embrace the highest quality ethical standards patients are seeking in choosing their surgeon.

Each year, participants say this course is valuable not only for the opportunity to study best practices and take mock exams, but also to connect with esteemed faculty and peers.

Enroll in this course during registration for the World Congress. If you have already registered for the congress and would like to add this course, please contact us at info@ishrs.org.

Course Description

First, participants will receive online access to the Advanced/Board Review Online Bundle of videos. This on-demand course bundle includes 27 video lectures just added this year, covering current practices in core and advanced hair restoration. (Each student will receive a brief assignment to share what they learned from one of these new lectures with their small workgroup during the in-person course. See Course Outline for more information.) The online bundle also includes 39 past course lectures, as well as videos of past mock oral and written exams. With this bundle, participants will have access to a vast wealth of knowledge before and after the in-person course.

The in-person course will offer a review of the core and advanced topics that were covered in-depth in the online bundle. Then it will mainly focus on preparing for the oral and written ABHRS exams. First, faculty will demonstrate the oral exam. Afterward, participants will get to role-play mock oral exam questions in their small workgroups to get firsthand practice, followed by discussion. Next, they will take a mock written exam and discuss the answers as a classroom. The course will wrap up with faculty panel discussions.
