I have a soft spot in my heart for Colorado. Actually, two!
My wife’s “American sister” (her best friend from the exchange student program), Heidi, lives in tiny Eagle, and that’s where we spent a lovely summer month in 2014. Together with her two daughters and our twins, we took in the vastness of this beautiful Mountain State, camping out and doing scenic trails.
A mixture of canyons, plateaus, mountains, rivers and lakes, this gorgeous state attracts visitors for all seasons. Its capital city, Denver, is where my dear, red-headed high school friend Kim lives. She is promising me a class reunion the weekend before our 32nd Congress. I am looking forward to a very emotion-packed fortnight in Colorado!
I hope you make plans to explore some of the beauty that Denver and its environs have to offer.
Regarding the preparations for the meeting, we are extending the deadline for abstract submission one more week. This will allow late-comers to submit their ideas, by March 20. We already have a significant amount of papers, and I trust the Scientific Planning Committee is ready for a record number of abstracts.
I am happy to announce a keynote speaker: Prof. Pankay Karande, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, N.Y.), will be reporting on 3D-printed hair follicles in human skin cultured in the lab.
See you in Denver! Take with you a pair of trekking shoes and a coat, it should be chilly!
All the best,
